Professor Weise's Brain Serum Injector
Lubin Catalog synopsis (dated 1909/Length 305 feet/with one scene from the film)
This catalog synopsis is brief as will be this write-up.
Here's the entire entry:
"Professor Weise discovered a new Brain Serum and immediately starts to try it. He succeeds beyond expectations. At the end he is given a dose of his own medicine."
The above description is taken from "A Guide to Motion Picture Catalogs by American Producers and Distributors, 1894-1908: A Microfilm Edition". There are two accompanying unidentified reviews (oddly both refer to Professor "Wise"), one of which is longer than the entry itself. It's actually more telling:
"Lubin actors are surely obliged to earn their money especially when they work in "comics." In this picture a professor taps the head of various animals and injects the fluid into the heads of different people, causing them to hop and crow like chickens, run and bark like dogs, frisk around like cats, gallop like horses and butt like goats. Pity the poor actors! Especially since the picture causes little laughter."
I've corresponded with someone that has actually viewed this at the British Film Institute who remarked "..it is almost bad beyond belief".
I guess that all of the chickens, dogs, cats, horses and goats add up to one big turkey.
