The Spy by Thea Von Harbou
This story was made into film by the one and only Fritz Lang. Filmed as "Spione" by Fritz Lang, it is imho a watchable movie but not up to the standards of the visually amazing Metropolis, the technical accuracy attempted in Woman in the Moon or even the action of Spiders. In some ways, it is a poor man's Dr. Mabuse.
I re-watched the film in bits and pieces while reading the novel.
Both are really kinda in that middle ground that make them hard to review.
Imho...
Neither film nor novel are terrible by any means.
However, neither is a standout either.
The plot is somewhat intricate, so the reading/watching end-of-it helped me figure out
what was going on better.
In a nutshell,
SPOILERS
No. 326 (Willy Fritsch) and Sonja (Gerda "Woman in the Moon" Maurus") are spies on opposite sides. They instantly fall in love and ultimately manage to defeat the master-spy Haghi (Rudolf "Dr. Mabuse" Klein-Rogge).
